The study and research group in Big Data in the University of Sao Paulo aims to develop activities of study and researchs related to data management in great amount of data and complex data which traditional computer applications are not appropriate. The group works focused on: data collect (curadoria), research, sharing, storage, interoperability, analysis and data policy. Big Data application aims to support scientific data management to allow a new context in the use and sharing of data, specially to the biodiversity conservation. Software in government and industry require efficiency in costs, productivity and innovation.

Our goals are:

  • Expand the knowledge about big data management (computer tools for data collect, interoperability, storage, trusteeship, visualization, sharing, analysis and public policies) additional to the academic education of undergraduation and posgraduate students;
  • Introduce the students to the contact with routine big data management activities in various sectors, encouraging the identification and resolution of problems related to the issue;
  • Hold technical and scientific events that address practical and theoretical aspects of big data management;
  • Train or study in the execution and execute research and extension projects in big data management;
  • Produce technical and scientific publications;
  • Promote interaction with the external community through courses, workshops, projects, plans, analyzes, etc., which contribute to an area of big data and data science.
